Mohanlal Baabulkar was born in Devprayag, a revered place in the Tehri Garhwali district of Uttarakhand. He has written books on various cultural, social and traditional implications of folk literature.

Some of his well-known books are ‘Garhwal Mein Lokdharmi Kala’, ‘Jamuna Se Ganga’ and ‘Himalaya Mein Matmatantar’.
